成都市玉林中学建校于1988年，坐落于大专院校、科研单位、高新产业集中的成都市国家级高新技术开发区。是四川省第一所实行全面改革实验试点中学，是成都市第一所实行校长招聘制的中学，是四川省示范性普通高中，也是全省、全国第一所有后援委员会的公立学校。
学校占地215亩，拥有芳草、石羊、玉林、肖家河四个教学区，六个教学点。现有教职工493人，学生8700多人。特级教师及后备人选5人，博士11人，硕士7人，研修生202人，市、区学科带头人44人，全国优秀教师2人，四川省优秀教师4人，成都市优秀教师9人，成都市优秀青年教师23人，师德标兵10人 ，优秀校长5人，其他荣誉称号获得者200多人。

学校拥有功能齐全的教学大楼，设施完善的学生生活中心，设备一流的体育场馆、科技楼和天文馆。获得了四川省校风示范校、四川省示范性普通高中、四川省现代教育技术示范校、四川省实验教学示范校、四川省传统体育项目示范学校、四川省垒球人才输送基地、成都市精神文明单位、成都市绿色学校、成都市园林学校、成都市十佳环境模范管理组织等殊荣。通过了ISO9001：2000国际质量管理体系认证和ISO14001:1996国际环保体系认证。在十多年的快速发展中，逐步形成了有丰厚内涵的“人本·和谐”的办学思想，“琢玉成器，育才成林”，为社会培养了两万多名合格的毕业生，为高等学府输送了一批又一批大学生，有300多名玉林中学毕业的学生在国外一流大学读书。培养了全国十佳警察田立，四川省理科状元翟牮，14岁少年大学生张晶，2008奥运之星顾俊杰、周怡等一大批优秀人才，高考、中考连年受到成都市教育局的表彰,实现了“资源的快速积累，品牌的有效辐射”。

学校明晰了“集团化办学，国际化交流，科学化管理”的发展思想，树立正确的教育观，深化课程改革，开发校本课程。近三年来，承担了研究课题26个，其中国家级课题5个，省级课题2个,80%的教师参加了课题研究。学校大力推进素质教育，在人事制度改革、集团化办学、多元化发展等方面进行了积极的探索，具有较明显的特色，取得了可喜的成果，起到了实验性、示范性作用。

目前，学校正向着“将玉林中学办成在‘人本·和谐’的办学思想引领下，面向世界，并与国际接轨的师生互动发展的学校”的办学目标阔步前进。
Chengdu Yulin Middle School was established in 1988, which is located in national high–tech development zone of south Chengdu, where institutes, scientific research departments and high–tech enterprises are concentrated. It is the first experimental school that carries out comprehensive reforms, and the first one to set up the system of recruiting principals. It’s also an ordinary provincial model middle school as well as the first public school supported by a backing committee both in Sichuan and in the country.
At present, the school covers an area of 215 mu, boasting of four teaching areas––Fangcao, Shiyang, Yulin, Xiaojiahe with the teaching staff of 493 and over 8700 students. Among the professionals, five are special–class teachers as well as their reservists. 11 are doctors, 7 masters, 202 postgraduate course learners, 44 academic leaders in both municipal and district level, 2 national, 4 provincial, 9 municipal excellent teachers, 23 city–level top young teachers included. 10 people have won the tittles of morality model and 5 principals have the honour of the excellent including 203 other reputations.
This school owns a multi–function teaching building, a fully–equipped living center for students, a first–class sports stadium, and a science and technology building with an astronomical observatory in it. It has been awarded the titles of honour––provincial demonstration school in Spirit, Sichuan Provincial demonstration high school, Sichuan demonstration school in modern educational technology, Sichuan demonstration School in experimental teaching, Sichuan training base for softball, Sichuan advanced school in traditional athletic items, Chengdu municipal civilized unit, Chengdu green school, Chengdu garden–like school and Chengdu ten–best model organisation of environment–protection. It also gained the recognition of ISO9001: 2000 international quarlity management system and ISO14001:1996 international Environmental Protection System.
During the last 10 years of rapid development, Yulin Middle School has gradually formed its own particular way of managing the school and constructed a teaching ideology “Jade is out of carving, Talents gather into galaxy”.The school has brought up more than 20000 qualified guaduates. A large number of them have been sent to colleges and universities. More than 300 of school–leavers are studying abroad in top universities. Well–known are the national ten–best policeman––Tianli, Sichan number one scholar in science in the National Entrance Exam––Zhaijian, the Olympics’ star in 2008 Gujunjie and Zhouyi, a large number of excellent and gifted students; It is often commended by Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Education for its college and senior middle school Entrance Exams and has realized the rapid accumulation of the resources and the effective radiation of the brand.
The school known well that management of school lies in group–style, international exchanges and scientific administration. Form the right outlook of education, deepen the reform of curriculum and develop courses based on school curriculum. In recent three years,the school has undertaken 26 teaching research programs including 5 national and 2 provincial items, 80% of the teachers participate in them. Efforts are being made by the school to push forward quality education and make an active exploration in the reform of the personnel system, guoup–style operation, multi–development. So it possesses clear characteristics, achieves satisfactory results and functions well in experimental and demonstrative ways.
